Filtermist International has improved the air quality at Lymington Precision Engineering (LPE) by installing eight of its latest FiltermistXcel2 oil mist extraction units at one of its workshops.

Filtermist International has recently transformed the air quality at Lymington Precision Engineering (LPE) by installing eight of its latest FiltermistXcel2 oil mist extraction units at one of its workshops.

Based in Lymington, Hampshire and established in 1980, LPE is a leading manufacturer of high-precision machined components, fabrications, electro-mechanical assemblies and kit sets for the Telecommunications, defence, oil, space, medical and marine industries.

During 2004 LPE started a GBP 6.4 million capital investment programme to provide unmanned flexible manufacturing systems able to operate around the clock and CNC close tolerance machining capability up to 4m in length.

LPE products are manufactured from a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials, including plastics, with many incorporating both standard and sophisticated welding, fabrication processes.

Filtermist has now installed oil mist and dust extraction units to virtually all of the 75 CNC lathes, mills and machining centres throughout the Lymington site.

LPE's investment phase continues with the addition of a new five-axis machining centre in the near future.

David Craig - Financial Director and Company Secretary comments; "Fitting the Filtermist units has made a tremendous difference to the atmosphere throughout the company's various machining areas".

"The latest additions for oil mist removal have made a dramatic difference - you can physically see and feel the improvement they have made, oil residue is no longer present on the walls and you can smell and see how much cleaner the air is".

"We chose Filtermist because they are renowned as the best in the industry and synonymous with oil mist extraction, our past experience of their products and their total reliability made them the obvious choice".

FiltermistXcel2 is the latest design to use centrifugal impaction to remove oil mist at source.

The seven model options offer simplified product selection and cover a wide range of applications.

With the exception of the FX7000, each unit can operate on 50Hz or 60Hz electricity supplies and a variety of low and high voltages.

All of the motors in the range hold exhaustive certification to cover American, European and international standards.
