First Index Ltd, the information provider for the UK engineering industry, has appointed Malcolm Murray to the position of Managing Director.
First Index Ltd, the leading information provider for the UK engineering industry, has appointed Malcolm Murray to the position of Managing Director.
Murray was a founder director of the company eight years ago and has been Sales Director for the past six years.
Murray replaces Hans Wigart, who moves up to Group Managing Director, a position created by the rapid expansion of First Index into new markets.
The company is incorporated in the USA, with two offices, as well as in Finland and Germany.
Wigart says of the moves, "as new information products come on stream, such as the EXCHANGE internet platform for buyers and suppliers, a strong management structure is necessary to keep First Index at the leading edge and to maintain the high levels of service our customers have come to expect." During Malcolm Murray's years with the company he has demonstrated a strong commitment to customer satisfaction and enhancing the company's excellent growth record.
His knowledge of the engineering supply chain in the UK makes him the obvious choice to succeed Wigart.
Over the past seven years First Index Ltd has rapidly expanded to cover the UK, Ireland, United States, Sweden and Finland.
This growth has created the largest membership of contract manufacturers in the world.
The services offered by First Index Ltd assists both buyers and suppliers by reporting on jobs that have recently opened for bidding.
The main thrust being the provision of an on-going active source of leads for new business, providing quotation details on ?2.1 billion of projects per annum through their Sales Leads Service in the UK and Ireland alone.
In the UK First Index Ltd operate from offices in Basingstoke, employing more than 60 staff.
