Jargon buster cuts through the ATEX jungle
ABB has published an "ATEX jargon buster" that helps motor users cut through the jungle of terms and definitions that make up the new ATEX Directives.
At the ceremony, Hans Wigart, founder and chief executive officer of First Index Group, said: "First Index is very pleased to be shortlisted and recognised in this way.
The company's e-business service, called Findfast Online, is based on a number of the latest technologies including core elements from Microsoft.
This has enabled us to offer customers around the globe a comprehensive, industry standard service at an affordable price".
The Findfast software was developed for First Index by ICS Solutions.
Participants in the Digital Britain Awards demonstrate that despite current events like the dot com downturn and global economic turmoil, there are organisations which are flourishing by using cost-effective and practical technology to retain a competitive approach in the marketplace.
First Index addresses the engineering, manufacturing and process industry sectors in the UK, Ireland, Germany, Scandinavia and the USA and provides an invaluable, time-saving Internet-based service where buyers can find suppliers of non-standard or bespoke parts and assemblies.
In turn, suppliers can use the service as a means to find sales opportunities.
This approach is different to many other Internet-based trading exchanges.
Most of these enable buyers and suppliers to find, compare prices and place orders for off-the-shelf components or standard commodities.
First Index claims that the company's service is a profitable enterprise because it is based on subscriptions from suppliers, not a fee that is dependent on transactions.
Those who will be attracted by Findfast are not only buyers (and in many cases designers) and suppliers, but also senior management who are looking for new and more efficient methods of procurement and marketing.
