First Index has appointed Russ White as CEO for its global operations.

First Index has appointed Russ White as CEO for its global operations Reflecting the group's increasing business over the Internet using its unique technology, Russ's appointment will leverage his extensive experience of large-scale information and technology-driven organisations in the USA

The US market for IT-based sourcing of custom-made parts and assemblies is currently growing at twice the rate of Europe and the group's management structure has been altered strategically to take advantage of the larger market.

Buyers and suppliers in the USA are much more Internet- and technology-ready than their European counterparts and the take-up of First Index's services is faster than in Europe.

White has a long track record in growing publishing and information companies.

His placings as President and CEO include divisions of Elsevier, Thomson and McGraw Hill, as well as spending the last two years leading e-learning company Cognitive Arts.

His focus will be on improving profitability, developing the products and identifying and developing new markets.

First Index won significant venture capital funding in 2000 to develop its Findfast products for buyers.

White's appointment comes at the same time as further funding to help move the company into the next phase of product and market development, building on the success of the last two years.

Current CEO and founder, Hans Wigart, moves to Chairman and his role will be to consolidate the European operation while focusing on new product development.
