Full information can be found at www.EasyDeltaV.com The Fisher-Rosemount DeltaV 5.0 release doubled the capability of this key control platform, operating within the PlantWeb field-based architecture for process automation.
Now, with the new v5.3 release, up to 60 workstations and 100 controllers can be connected to the system, plus remote workstations, connected over secure local area networks, satellite links, dial-up connections and/or microwave links, to provide real time access to system information from any part of the world, without impacting system performance.
The DeltaV Remote Access Service is specially designed to efficiently serve data over slower, WAN connections - ideal in applications where satellite communications are required (see reference 1).
This means plant performance can be monitored from centralised engineering functions in another continent, to compare similar plant operations in different locations.
Automation keeps chemical plant running longer
New architecture takes safety plant-wide
Dual Redundancy for Foundation Fieldbus Interface Purchasing and sales functions have immediate access to actual plant data, for informed decisions.
To simplify the licencing of controller software with so many potential access points, only one control licence nowexists for the entire system.
No longer will it be necessary to purchase and manage multiple licences for each controller in your system.
Older sequence, monitor and logic licences get upgraded to be included in the system control licence.
This DeltaV release also includes significant advanced control enhancements spanning fuzzy logic, control loop tuning, control performance monitoring, and model predictive control.
DeltaV fuzzy logic functionality is now available in every DeltaV system at no additional cost.
DeltaV Tune functionality is also added, enhanced with new loop simulation and stability analysis allowing users to adjust tuning parameters for optimum performance and stability.
Additional filtering and sorting options make it easier than ever to identify and correct control loop performance problems to improve process performance.
Model predictive control capability has been added with the integration of Shell Multivariable Optimising Control (SMOC) from MDC Technologies into DeltaV.
Particular reference was made to the recently published EEMUA (Engineering Equipment and Materials Users Association, (see reference 2)) Design Guide on Alarm Systems Philosophy, in developing the DeltaV alarm management system.
The unit alarm display allows DeltaV to summarise the alarms in modules within operating units.
Operators can suppress or shelve alarms where needed, and view all of the suppressed alarms in a single summary.
Engineers can easily alarm enable and delay times.
Significant batch enhancements in the Version 5.3 release include support for both running batches in campaigns and enhancements focussed to support FDA Regulations in 21 CFR Part 11.
Campaign Manager software is an easy to use interface that creates, modifies, and executes entire campaigns of batch executions.
Users can now set up and start campaigns in just minutes, or campaigns can be configured programmatically via Enterprise Management software.
Campaign history is automatically stored in the Batch Historian without any user configuration required.
Users can view and modify recipes, formulas, batch IDs, and equipment defined for the campaign, as well as make modifications to the campaign.
Support for 21 CFR Part 11 is provided by Electronic Signature support and Configuration Audit Trail.
Electronic Signature support secures batch operations by automatically requiring a user name and password.
Secondary signature and password verification can also be required for Batch Operator prompts, Campaign Manager interactions and responses to operator prompts.
All signatures and passwords and corresponding actions performed are automatically stored in the batch history.
New patented Configuration Audit Trail software controls, manages and tracks all changes to the DeltaV configuration database saving time, effort and improving accuracy of configuration management.
This software supports electronic record keeping per 21 CFR Part 11.
Version 5.3 release expands the DeltaV system's "built-for-bus" architecture with two new, high-speed discrete I/O busses, Actuator Sensor Interface (AS-i) Bus and Profibus-DP.
These new busses significantly expand the range of automation applications the DeltaV system can address.
"The DeltaV system is widely recognised as the technology leader in our industry," said Travis Hesketh, Sales Director for Fisher-Rosemount in the UK, "Since the DeltaV introduction in 1996, we have introduced more system capacity and functionality in a shorter time than any other automation system supplier has ever achieved.
Our plan is to aggressively expand the capabilities of the DeltaV system to provide our customers with the best.
They are realising the business advantage and cost savings that flow from the use of PlantWeb, Asset Management Solutions software and DeltaV automation systems.".
