Emerson Process Management has made it easier to switch to the PlantWeb digital plant architecture with the release of DeltaV Operate and DeltaV Interface products for both RS3 and Provox components.

Emerson Process Management has made it easier to transition to PlantWeb digital plant architecture with the release of DeltaV Operate and DeltaV Interface products for both RS3 and Provox components.

The DeltaV Operate products allow customers to use the DeltaV operator workstation in place of their existing operator stations.

DeltaV Interface products provide a solution to replace Provox and RS3 controllers with DeltaV controllers.

Installation turnaround times are minimised as existing wiring is untouched.

Emerson has already developed migration products to support conversion from a wide range of legacy systems, including those from ABB, Honeywell, GSE, Invensys/Foxboro, Siemens, Yokogawa, and PLC systems like those of General Electric, Allen-Bradley, and Modicon.

"Our Provox and RS3 customers want an easy path to take advantage of the digital technologies in the DeltaV digital automation system and PlantWeb.

Our DeltaV Operate and Interface products provide transition paths", said Duncan Schleiss, Vice President of Marketing for the Process Systems business of Emerson Process Management.

"Users can transition components of their Provox and RS3 systems and take advantage of technologies like advanced control, digital buses, embedded tuning and asset management.

They can take advantage of the performance benefits these technologies provide at a pace that suits their needs and budgets".

By using the DeltaV transition products, users can enhance their systems with the standard DeltaV offering while maintaining full interoperability with their existing equipment.

These migration products are in high demand, with prerelease orders at record levels.

The suite of transition products in the DeltaV Version 7.2 release includes: DeltaV Operate for Provox - provides a common operator interface for Provox and DeltaV equipment; DeltaV Interface for Provox - provides a transition path for Provox IFC, UOC, SR90 and SRx controllers to DeltaV controllers, retains redundancy in controllers, I/O connections and I/O redundancy in Control I/O, and works with both Control I/O and Mux I/O with serial buffer card; DeltaV Operate for RS3 - provides a common operator interface for RS3 and DeltaV equipment; DeltaV Interface for RS3 - provides a transition path for RS3 Control Files to DeltaV controllers, and works with both RS3 FlexTerm and MultiPoint I/O.

"Our customers have widely different needs that determine how fast and how much they want to incorporate elements of DeltaV technology into their automation strategy.

We have the products that enable a step by step transition at a pace that suits them", said Ram Ramachandran, Director of Product Marketing.

"The DeltaV Operate and Interface products further extend the range of migration equipment available to help our customers maximise their automation investment return".

DeltaV Operate for Provox and RS3 provides users with the benefits of Windows XP-based common commercial hardware, enhanced graphics, trending and diagnostics, while still maintaining existing configurations of console resident points, alarming schemes, all in a secure redundant server architecture.

DeltaV Interface for Provox and RS3 connects to the existing wiring, providing Hart functionality as well as adding standard DeltaV railbus connectors to allow seamless addition of additional DeltaV I/O for expansions.

Provox and RS3 I/O are fully supported by DeltaV Explorer, Control Studio and Diagnostics applications, making configuration and integration easy.
