Emerson Process Management has added eight new courses to the PlantWeb University online learning centre, bringing the total courses available to 46.

These new courses outline how to improve plant operational efficiency by using predictive intelligence to increase output and reduce costs.

Concise and user-friendly, the courses address each of the areas that affect plant efficiency - quality, throughput, availability, operations and maintenance, safety, health and environment.

Course participants learn, free of charge, how to increase output by improving quality and throughput with improved process control and by improving availability with proper equipment installation, detection and monitoring.

Participants also learn how to reduce costs through improved operations and maintenance strategies and work practices; online monitoring and predictive diagnostics; and safety, health and environmental enhancements.

"Many plant engineers have already reached a practical limit on the improvements possible with traditional process automation".

"So what do they do when management and customers demand even more with even less?", asks Jane Lansing, Vice President, Emerson Process Management.

"The new PlantWeb courses show how to go beyond the limited capabilities of traditional automation architectures and improve plant efficiency by 2% or more".

Recent participants have found the courses well worth the time.

Pete Thiessen of Montana-Dakota Utilities described them as "informative, well thought out, and easy to use".

Eri Satria of Caltex Pacific Indonesia PT said: "This is the best free training tool on the web".

Users were surveyed about the courses they took at PlantWeb University.

When asked if the information presented was helpful in their job to improve availability and quality, optimise throughput, and reduce operations and maintenance costs, 93% said it was helpful, of which 50% said it was very helpful.

Access to PlantWeb University is available at www.PlantWebUniversity.com.
