Pat solution to pulley alignment

A Fixturlaser product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Nov 24, 2000

PAT is a new pulley alignment tool for quick and easy alignment of pulley drives.

The latest innovation from Fixturlaser has an appropriate name.

PAT, the new Pulley Alignment Tool is just right for the quick and easy alignment of pulley drives.

PAT shows exactly how pulleys are aligned.

By using the belt groove as reference the procedure becomes not only simple but also very accurate.

The system consists of two identical battery operated units.

The PAT units are mounted on the pulleys using extra strong magnets.

A spring action probe locates the belt groove and the units are easily snapped into position on the pulleys by the magnets when the units are pressed towards the pulleys.

Mr.Johan Halling, Managing Director of Fixturlaser explained: "The cost of unplanned stops and downtime can be detrimental to profitability but because the procedures have been so time consuming, alignment at regular intervals has not been viable.

Many companies have instead chosen not to align at all.

With our new Pulley Alignment tool, this is no longer a problem and money can be saved by regular aligning and adjusting When asked whether special training was needed to operate the equipment, Mr Halling replied: The alignment process is very simple.

As soon as the laser is switched on, it will draw a line on the target label.

The correct position is achieved when the laser lines are aligned with the centre mark on the target label.

PAT measures angular, parallel, and twist deviations simultaneously.

The target level is graduated with extreme accuracy and adjustment of the machines to the aligned position is very easy.

One person can carry out this and no training is needed to operate the equipment" He continued: "The advantages with belt drive alignment are obvious: Fewer unplanned stops and downtime, longer intervals between services, reduced vibrations and belt noise, and prolonged life for belts and components.

We believe this is a tool that will increase productivity and enhance profitability for many firms.".
