Flexicon's FPAX range of nylon-moulded conduit fittings has achieved the ingress protection rating IP69K - proving resistance to high pressure water or steam jets.

Flexicon's FPAX range of nylon-moulded conduit fittings has achieved the ingress protection rating IP69K - proving resistance to high pressure water or steam jets.

This is a first in the flexible conduit industry, setting a high benchmark for other manufacturers.

The assessments, carried out by MIRA (Motor Industry Research Association), test a product's resistance to water at high pressure, high temperature and low volume.

The tests are an official requirement of the automotive industry for any cabling exposed to high-pressure water or steam jet washing, but also qualify products to be used in similar applications across diverse industries such as rail or food processing.

Flexicon's FPAX fittings have already been successfully tested to ingress protection standards IP66 (protection against dust and high pressure water jets), IP67 (protection against dust and water immersion - up to one metre) and IP68 (protection against dust and long periods of water immersion - two bar pressure for two hours) according to IEC EN 60529.

Ian Gibson, Flexicon's Technical Director, comments: "Each rigorous IP testing process simulates different types of harsh environments in order to test a product's resistance to them".

"A high IP rating doesn't mean that a product will automatically pass a lower rating, as each environment places unique demands on a product and specific tests are required for each one".

"Therefore, despite the number of standards our FPAX range has already achieved, we continually strive to push boundaries and meet further industry criteria, broadening the application potential of our products".

"We feel it is important to demonstrate our commitment to safety and product quality in order to instil trust in our customers and give them peace of mind when installing a Flexicon product".

FPAX fittings are nylon-moulded with a variety of threads and are suitable for use with Flexicon's FPA ranges of non-metallic conduit.

The fittings boast Flexicon's innovative rapid-fit technology, which reduces installation time for significant onsite labour savings.

The FPAX range also features anti-vibration and anti-tamper properties and is available in a wide range of configurations, sizes and threads.
