Flexicon exhibits bulk solids handling products

A Flexicon product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Jul 22, 2009

At the 2009 PPMA Show, Flexicon (Europe) will be exhibiting a range of products for bulk solids handling applications.

The products include a dilute phase pneumatic conveying system incorporating a hopper, product pickup adapter, conveying line, filter receiver and receiving hopper fitted with a flap discharge valve.

Also on display will be a bulk bag discharger incorporating the Tele-TubeO telescoping tube that increases operator safety by eliminating dust during untying, discharging, retying, collapse and removal of bulk bags while achieving complete discharge with greater efficiency.

The company will also show a mobile re-circulating Flexicon unit demonstrating the efficient transfer of bulk solids through a series of flexible screw conveyors.

Utilising downstream vacuum transfer, provided by a side channel blower, this pneumatic conveying system will demonstrate the efficient transfer of material from the feed hopper, entering the system via flood-feed pickup adapter, into product conveying pipeline and exiting the system via the filter receiver.

The receiving hopper normally discharges into a downstream process.

The point of discharge for this system is rigged to recycle the raw material through the hopper for continuous flow.

The discharger features a bulk bag/hopper interface consisting of a manual Spout-LockO clamp ring positioned above a pneumatically actuated Tele-TubeO telescoping tube.

Together, the devices enable an operator to make a quick, dust-tight connection between the bag spout and hopper, and to automatically elongate the bag as it empties to promote flow and evacuation.

The mobile re-circulating unit is designed for metering bulk materials to multiple processing, moulding or packaging machinery, often over long distances when field installed.

In its custom-designed test laboratory, Flexicon can verify system performance using customer supplied bulk materials, prior to final equipment design and fabrication.

This validates major investment in new equipment and its performance capability prior to, as well as after, commissioning.
