The revolutionary Quantim mass flow measurement system for low liquid flows has been extended with the addition of HART digital communications.

All measured parameters of mass flow, liquid density, temperature, and volume flow can be interrogated remotely over the 4-20mA output, using a hand-held communicator or a PC based monitoring system.

This facility also allows adjustment or re-ranging of the flow controller set-points, when the unit is used for flow control, or blending.

The Brooks Quantim flowmeter from Flotech Solutions uses Coriolis technology to provide 0.5% accurate mass flow measurement or control of liquid flows, up to 5Kg/hr.

Measurements are independent of variations in the process fluid, such as temperature, viscosity or density.

Following the Quantim launch last year, significant application has been in monitoring and control of pilot plants, where biochemical reagents are blended within tight tolerances into processing vessels.

Associated electronics systems available for blending control accept multiple inputs from Quantim flowmeters on liquid lines, plus the Brooks Thermal mass flow sensors on gas lines.

The accuracy and versatility of the Quantim has simplified the instrumentation used in process development, and improved the control available, shortening process development times.

Quantim is also involved in full-scale production, particularly for accurate doping or blending applications - for example the odour is added to natural gas supplies using a Quantim flow controller.
