Siemens Flender has won another significant order from Metso Minerals (UK).

Siemens Flender has won another significant order from Metso Minerals (UK), the minerals processing equipment specialist that is constructing a number of rail car dumper and train marshalling systems for coal export facilities in China.

The latest order is for the Port of Jingtang, where 24 planetary drive units have been supplied for two positioners (12 per positioner) which marshal full coal wagons into the dumper area.

The loaded trains can be up to 200 wagons long.

Flender has already supplied the drive unit assemblies for the car dumpers, for emptying coal from rail wagons.

Each positioner drive unit comprises a Siemens 90kW 1500rev/min motor, Neupex/Autogard torque limiting coupling, Sime Stromag electromagnetic brake, and a Planurex P2NA10 planetary gear unit, with an extended output shaft fitted with a 15-tooth gear pinion.

Metso Project Manager Chris Weeks commented: "We first used Flender gear units on a project in China back in 1983, and since that time Flender has remained our preferred supplier in China".

"We are very happy with the performance and reliability of Flender units".

The gear units for this project are due for shipping in January 2007, with the whole Jingtang project due for completion by August 2007.
