FLIR: Forward Looking Infrared

FLIR Systems is the world's leading manufacturer of thermal imaging cameras for industrial applications. The breadth of its product range is unmatched. In broad terms the FLIR Systems product programme comprises dedicated ranges of infrared cameras for preventive maintenance applications, building diagnostics, demanding scientific and R&D work and for process control, security and machine vision. Standard models are also available for gas detection.

FLIR Systems manufactures infrared cameras that are characterized by highly accurate temperature measurement, high-capacity image storage and comprehensive analysis capability. Systems fall into two categories, hand-held and fixed installation. The majority use a common-core imaging system, based on state-of-the-art cooled or uncooled sensor technology.

FLIR Systems cameras suit just about every budget and application from the simple "find-it, fix-it" toolbox tool through to high speed, high definition systems for research, development and scientific applications.

The new flagship model for predictive maintenance is the ThermaCAMŽ P660. This is the world's first portable 640 x 480 camera with integral GPS for geo-location. It has been designed and developed for applications that need superior image quality, temperature measurement accuracy and even greater image detail. In addition to GPS the added-value features of this camera include wireless remote control, contrast optimisation and a 3.2 megapixel visual camera.

The speed and ease with which the FLIR P660 can generate a highly professional infrared report is thanks to the ThermaCAM Reporter software. This Windows-based system takes the integration of image analysis and report generation functions to a whole new level for even faster and accurate evaluation of infrared reports.

There is a comprehensive range of ThermaCAMŽ P-Series cameras to accommodate everyone's infrared needs from the frequent to the occasional user. And this policy is echoed throughout FLIR Systems' other ranges too. The new ThermaCAMŽ T-Series of portable mid-range cameras is now available in four versions. Features include a touch screen plus stylus, integral digital camera and a wide choice of measurement options

At the lowest end of the investment scale is the InfraCAMŽ. This is FLIR Systems' toolbox infrared camera, a model that set the entry-level benchmark for safe, non-contact thermal inspection.

For those involved in diagnosing problems in the built environment the ThermaCAMŽ B Series continues to provide a dedicated solution. Models in the series are characterised by features such as the humidity and insulation alarms.

The use of FLIR Systems ThermoVisionTM A-Series infrared cameras for on-line thermal imaging and machine vision is now commonplace. An important development is the ease with which these cameras can now be integrated into the production process. Indeed the new ThermoVision? A320 cameras are the first to be compatible with the standard protocols GigEVision? and GenICam?.

Since its acquisition of fellow infrared specialist CEDIP, FLIR Systems has become an even more powerful force in the field of high-end R+D and scientific thermography. The fortified FLIR Systems now has the capacity to develop R&D Systems that are application specific with a greater range of cooled detector combinations. This capability complements the proven ThermaCAMŽ S-Series, a comprehensive range of R&D cameras in its own right.

The supply of this highly comprehensive range of products is supported by a dedicated team of service and repair engineers based in FLIR Systems' West Malling office. Here a complete repair and calibration capability is maintained specifically to serve customers in the UK and Republic of Ireland.

To enable customers to get the most from their camera investment FLIR Systems runs a comprehensive training programme. Courses range from a one-day introduction to thermal imaging through to courses for ASNT or PCN level 1, 2 and 3 qualifications. It also provides in-house training courses customized to particular application sectors.
