Power quality troubleshooting on
video-CD

Fluke has produced a video on CD designed to develop the skills of electrical maintenance engineers in troubleshooting power quality problems.

Fluke has produced a video on CD designed to develop the skills of electrical maintenance engineers in troubleshooting power quality problems Based on real problems encountered at all levels of the power supply in offices and industry, the CD runs on a PC and demonstrates how a suitable true-RMS power quality meter can identify commonly occurring problems and how they can be rectified

The free Fluke power quality troubleshooting video-CD is a film with soundtrack which runs on a PC with a sound card.

It is designed to teach engineers how to measure, diagnose and solve power quality problems.

The CD can be used in conjunction with two application notes which are downloadable from the Fluke website - "Power quality troubleshooting" and "Power quality troubleshooting at the service panel".

Starting with a typical office installation with a multiplicity of PCs and printers, the video demonstrates how a Fluke 43B power quality analyser is used to identify the source of power glitches causing a PC to reboot unexpectedly.

Other troubleshooting performed by the 43B include the effects of single-phase harmonics at service panels; transformer overheating due to nonlinear loads in office machinery and adjustable speed drives; transient harmonic distortions caused by induction motors; and harmonic problems and reduced displacement power factors caused by three-phase loads.

At each stage the video shows how to use the true-RMS 43B analyser to identify the problem and how to develop possible solutions. Request a free brochure from Fluke (UK) ...
