The new Fluke 1550B MegOhmMeter is a digital insulation tester designed for testing switchgear, motors, generators and cables from 250V up to 5kV, testing in 50V increments up to 1kV and then in 100V steps.
It can be used for a wide range of tests, from simple spot checks to timed tests and breakdown tests.
Its uniquely labelled 99 memory locations store all measurement parameters, which can then be recalled later or downloaded easily to a Windows-PC using the improved Quicklink 1550B software and optical interface cable that come with the meter.
The Fluke 1550B offers automatic calculation of the Dielectric Absorption and Polarisation Index at the push of a button.
It comes as a complete kit built into a new, more rugged, carrying case.
Other features include an improved ramp function (0-5000V DC) for breakdown testing, a timer for up to 99min, plus the ability to conduct leakage current and cable or insulation capacitance tests.
The Fluke 1550B's warning voltage function alerts the user to the presence of line voltage and gives the voltage reading up to 600V AC or DC.
With its large, fast-responding analogue/digital display, the Fluke 1550B shows measurement changes graphically with easy-to-read analogue bargraphs as well as digital measurements.
The Fluke 1550B is powered by a high-capacity, rechargeable 12V battery.
In addition, the meter is fully tested to comply with EN61010-1, CAT III 600 V overvoltage category and EN61557 parts 1 and 2 installation testing.
The Fluke 1550B MegOhmMeter is available from a wide range of Fluke distributors and major electrical wholesalers, and comes complete with a soft case for tester and accessories, heavy-duty test leads, 5000V-rated probes, alligator clips, interface adaptor and cable, Quicklink 1550B PC software and a user's manual.
