Multifunction tester covers new building
regs

Fluke is offering a new, low-cost multifunction tester to complement the Fluke/Robin 1650 Series models introduced in 2003.

Fluke is offering a new, low-cost multifunction tester to complement the Fluke/Robin 1650 Series models introduced in 2003 This model is specially designed to test all the requirements in the new Part P Building Regulations with one single piece of equipment

Coming into force on 1st January 2005, Part P requires, with some exceptions, all new domestic electrical installations, as well as alterations and additions to existing installations, to be tested by authorised contractors, or inspected by local Building Control, for compliance with BS7671.

The new Fluke 1651/Part P multifunction tester performs tests of residual current activated devices (RCDs), in addition to the primary tests of voltage, frequency, continuity, insulation resistance, loop impedance, PSC and PFC tests.

The 1651/Part P uses a unique and patented advanced loop measurement technology to prevent electronic and passive type RCDs from tripping during earth-loop testing, whilst also giving highly consistent and repeatable results.

It is supplied as a complete kit with test leads, crocodile clips, heavy-duty carrying case, neck strap, mains connection lead, language reference card and an operating manual on CD-ROM.

The Fluke 1651/Part P is extremely easy to operate and features a large backlit display with a wide viewing angle.

Worn on a neck-strap, its unique ergonomic design, extremely low weight and intuitive user interface make it an ideal tool for comfortable testing.

Safe usage is enhanced with a built-in live voltage indicator.

Aimed at domestic installations, the 1651 does not offer the automatic RCD testing functionality or the remote probe supplied with the 1652, nor the advanced capabilities of the 1653 to upload stored results later to a PC for software analysis, and to provide earth resistance and phase sequence measurement.

All three models make up the full range of very rugged Fluke/Robin 1650 Series multifunction testers.

The Fluke website lists a series of downloadable installation tester application notes that highlight particular uses.

The new unit is available from authorised Fluke and Robin wholesalers and distributors at a recommended trade price of GBP 499. Request a free brochure from Fluke (UK) ...
