Testers enable one-handed insulation
assessment

Fluke has added two compact, reliable and cost-effective insulation testers with 600V Cat IV safety ratings to its line of electrical test instruments.

Fluke has added two compact, reliable and cost-effective insulation testers with 600V Cat IV safety ratings to its line of electrical test instruments The new, rugged Fluke 1503 and 1507 digital insulation testers deliver multiple test voltages and offer new features designed for ease of operation by electricians and technicians for a wide range of electrical installation, troubleshooting, commissioning and preventive maintenance applications

The Fluke 1507 insulation tester features automatic "one-button" calculation of polarisation index and dielectric absorption ratio, and also has a compare (pass/fail) function designed to ease repetitive testing.

Both the Fluke 1507 and 1503 include a new remote test probe that enables one-handed insulation testing via a button on the probe handle, for convenient use in hard-to-reach places.

The Fluke 1507 provides insulation resistance testing up to 10Gohm, with five output voltages ranging from 50 to 1000V, while the 1503 tests up to 2000Mohm with either 500 or 1000V.

Both models offer a continuity test function at 200mA for rapid circuit testing.

The Fluke 1503 and 1507 are designed for added user protection with a 600V Cat IV overvoltage rating and are engineered to withstand voltage spikes of 8kV.

In addition, insulation testing is disabled if the testers are connected to a live circuit with more than 30V.

After testing, the testers automatically discharge all capacitive charge from the equipment under test to help prevent accidental shocks.

The new models come complete with test leads and probes, alligator clips and the remote test probe.

Four AA alkaline batteries, good for 1000 insulation tests, provide the power.

An optional Fluke TPAK magnetic hanging system enables hands-free operation.

Both the 1503 and 1507 carry a one-year warranty.

The full Fluke line of insulation test instruments also includes the Fluke 1587 and 1577 insulation multimeters, the Fluke 1520 megohmmeter and the Fluke 1550B 5kV megohmmeter, providing a choice for all budgets for productive troubleshooting and preventive maintenance on installation wiring, motors, cables and switchgear.

All insulation test instruments are available from Fluke authorised wholesalers and distributors. Request a free brochure from Fluke (UK) ...
