How to use a Scopemeter

A Fluke product story

Application note explains how to use a rugged, handheld Fluke Scopemeter 123.

A downloadable application note from the Fluke website explains how to use a rugged, handheld Fluke Scopemeter 123 to adjust, check and maintain electronic control sensors during the manufacture, installation and operation of machinery in an automated manufacturing environment.

In one instrument, the Scopemeter combines the functions of an oscilloscope and a digital multimeter.

The application note for can-making machines describes measurements such as pulse widths and duty cycle for various sensors on the automated machinery.

The handheld portability of the meter means it can be carried direct to the required location.

Its connect-and-view function adjusts the settings almost instantly to match the input signal and give a meaningful display of the signals waveform without complex and time-consuming set-up and adjustment procedures.

Measurements from the waveform are selected from a menu with the digital readings displayed above the waveform display.

The 600V Category III safety-certified 123 and 124 Scopemeters are integrated test tools, combining the three most frequently used service tools: a dual input oscilloscope with 20 or 40MHz bandwidth, a true-RMS multimeter and a paperless recorder.

The meters also act as a basic component tester, measuring resistance, capacitance and providing diode test.
