Multimeter for hazardous environments

Fluke has extended its line of intrinsically safe products for use in explosive environments with the 87V Ex true-RMS digital multimeter.

Fluke has extended its line of intrinsically safe products for use in explosive environments with the 87V Ex true-RMS digital multimeter (DMM) It is for measurement and troubleshooting in industries such as petrochemical and pharmaceutical manufacturing, oil exploration and refining, and other hazardous environments where the release of excessive static electricity, sparks or mechanical friction could cause ignition of flammable gas, vapour or material

The DMM is certified as intrinsically safe according to the European Atex directive for use in potentially explosive environments.

It incorporates circuitry for taking accurate voltage and frequency measurements on variable speed motor drives (VSDs) and other electrically noisy equipment.

It has the resolution and accuracy to solve problems on VSDs, in plant automation, power distribution and electromechanical equipment.

It is equipped with a built-in thermometer and has large display digits and a bright white backlight for easy reading in low-light environments.

A magnetic hanger enables technicians to snap the tool temporarily onto steel panels where it is easily accessible, freeing their hands for other tasks.

Its Atex safety rating is for use in Zones 1 and 2, and it also has EN61010 and 600V Cat IV and 1000V Cat III electrical safety rating, for use elsewhere in the plant.

The electrical safety rating means it is engineered to withstand voltage spikes of 8kV to help protect users against the hazards of arc flash, so it to be used safely inside and outside the hazardous zone. Request a free brochure from Fluke (UK) ...
