FTI announces Fusion Event Manager

A Flow Technology product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team May 20, 2009

Flow Technology (FTI) has introduced the Fusion Event Manager, a software feature for the Fusion Marine Vessel Fuel Accountability and Management System.

The Fusion system provides a means to measure, record, report and display the fuel consumption and efficiency of marine vessel diesel engines.

It is intended for use on vessels such as oil and gas offshore supply and support workboats, ferries, fishing trawlers, ocean and river tugs, coastguard cutters and offshore drilling ships.

The Fusion system is configurable for measuring the net fuel burned by multiple propulsion engines and generators or thrusters.

One issue related to fuel consumption is the amount of time a marine vessel is away from its home port; extended service delays port engineers from analysing trip data in a timely manner.

With the Fusion Event Manager, fleet operators can utilise satellite communication to transmit fuel data to their homeport.

A user-friendly satellite uplink or tethered modem connection allows vessels to submit summarised fuel information for invoicing purposes or to look for indications of possible fuel theft.

The system can be set up to automatically email fuel consumption reports on a scheduled basis.

The Fusion system provides a real-time wheelhouse display of vessel fuel consumption and fuel efficiency, while helping operators achieve optimised fuel usage for any given weather or sea conditions.

It also maintains a log of fuel consumption and efficiency data for trending on a daily, weekly, monthly or yearly basis.

Flow Technology said that Fusion offers system accuracy of +/-0.25 per cent at typical operating conditions, as well as an excellent speed of response.
