Firemaster has introduced a range of FE-36 automatic fire suppression units for marine engine compartments using a clean agent 'drop-in' Halon replacement extinguishant, enabling users to meet new requirements that ban the use of Halon by the end of 2003 in all but a few specific critical instances Regulations against the use of Halon 1211 or Halon 1301 call for prosecution if not complied with and mean that after 2002 existing fixed systems cannot be refilled with Halon or reinstated following discharge

Furthermore, Halon fixed systems must be removed for destruction or banking by authorised companies before the end of 2003.

Prudent fire safety therefore dictates the rapid replacement of existing Halon systems.

Portable extinguishers are also subject to the same regulations, and the different behaviour of replacement media requires expert advice on the choices available for each application.

The Firemaster FE-36 automatic fixed units come in 1, 1.5 and 2kg models offering stored pressure with easy low-cost maintenance and a 5-year warranty.

Ensuring zero ozone depletion, they are safe for use on electrical equipment and suitable for B and C fire classifications.

Manufactured in the UK under the BS EN ISO9002 quality management system, they are available through chandlers as well as Firemaster distributors, with recommended retail prices starting at just GBP 112.50 (ex VAT).
