As well as the complex electrical equipment installed in modern trains, trams and underground shuttles, concern over the threat of fire applies equally to a fixed electrical installations in the restricted environments, such as tunnels and the network of underground train lines.
Continuing its commitment to providing innovative and reliable products relevant for today's marketplace, relay and timer manufacturer Finder, has granted provisional classification to many of its products with respect to its Smoke Index, Fire Index and Global Index, as well as the more familiar UL-94 Flammability rating.
The indices relate to the French standards that lead in this important area and which are currently forming the basis of forthcoming international standards.
The new classification, which tests extensively for ease of ignition, self-extinguishing capabilities and levels of smoke and toxicity produced by materials when ignited, will better assist its customers involved in the transport industry to assess and select the most suitable components.
This is an illustration of how Finder continues to address those environmental and safety issues of growing importance, to its customers and ultimately, the public at large.
