Flojet-PA is pure Aramid yarn braided gland packing for tough and heavy applications such as slurry.

Flojet-PA is pure Aramid yarn braided gland packing for tough and heavy applications such as slurry.

Pure Aramid braided packing overcomes the disadvantages of asbestos packing, and is ideal for sewage, paper mills applications and high pressure reciprocating pumps.

Aramid fibres are a type of nylon, with a molecular structure composed of linked benzene rings and amide bonds.

They are organic man-made fibres used for innumerable industrial applications including sealing.

Chemically they can be classified either as a para-compound (linear molecular skeleton) or meta-compound (zigzag skeleton).

Aramid fibres show good resistance to chemicals and their high crystallinity and strong intermolecular forces prevent chemicals from penetrating into the polymers.

The resistance to organic chemicals is good to excellent, depending on the pH value of the liquid handled.

Aramid fibres have a higher density cover than polyamide fibres.

(Polyamide fibres have a higher percentage of Teflon which reduces their cost and service and make them weak in strength compared with Aramid fibres).

Aramid fibres have five times the strength of steel of equivalent weight.

Flojet-PA braided packing is diagonally woven packing obtained from 100% Aramid yarns, manufactured by Teijin Twaron BV, Netherlands, under the Twaron brand, impregnated with chemically resistant PTFE.

Working specifications include: a temperature range from -200 to +280C; pH range from 3 to 12; surface speed up to 15m/s; and pressure up to 2900lb/in2.

Available in square sections from 3 to 30mm square, Flojet-PA can also be supplied in spool packing.

Ring sections can be cut to specific requirements.

In addition, Aramid fibres can be braided in combination with other fibres such as pure PTFE (Teflon), PTFE/graphite and pure graphite.
