Faraday Plastics, the Government-sponsored body for UK plastics R and D, saw over 150 business enquiries at this October's Interplas 2002 at the NEC, Birmingham.

Richard Simpson, Faraday Plastics Research Director, said: "We are very pleased with the many opportunities that arose at Interplas 2002.

We used the exhibition both to promote our services and to gather information on the plastics research and innovation needs of UK manufacturing.

We now have a wealth of leads and enquiries to pursue".

Following a prize draw of business cards on its stand, Faraday Plastics is now offering a day's free R and D consultancy to five winning companies.

These are Oxford-based JBOL; Flexible Lamps of Harlow; AK Industries; Synbra Polymers and Flitwick-based Beaumont.

Faraday Plastics is also currently preparing for its November seminar at Rapra Technology on energy efficiency in the sector, and has also issued a call for research proposals to advance the cause of design in plastics.
