New from Forge Europa is a range of high-performance red, yellow and green discrete LEDs aimed at the rapidly expanding traffic and video display market.

New from Forge Europa is a range of high-performance red, yellow and green discrete LEDs aimed at the rapidly expanding traffic and video display market.

The new products, offered in a 5mm water-clear package have intensities in the region of 5000-7000mcd with viewing angles from 10 to 15 degrees.

All production orders are bin coded for luminous intensity and can be supplied taped or loose to individual customers requirements.

The 505nm (dominant) green LEDs are manufactured from proprietary InGaN material and are also selected for forward voltage to ensure excellent batch-to-batch consistency.

Although the majority of traffic applications are likely to require the 5mm narrow angle device, other package styles also offered are 3mm and elliptical devices having very wide viewing characteristics of 100/50 degrees.

The new range is offered with the option of a specially formulated UV-resistant epoxy that limits the degrading effects of sunlight on the long-term performance of the products.

The new devices will be on show on stand A4.466 at Electronica 2002.
