Frost and Sullivan has recognised Siemens Automation and Drives for its outstanding leadership in human machine interface (HMI) technology.

Frost and Sullivan has recognised Siemens Automation and Drives for its outstanding leadership in human machine interface (HMI) technology.

The announcement was made at the 2005 SPS Exhibition at the Stephens Convention Centre in Chicago, USA.

Frost and Sullivan presented Siemens with two prestigious awards - the "Market leadership award" for HMI entrepreneurial performance, and the "Technology leadership award" for developing exceptional infrastructures in HMI systems.

Frost and Sullivan Research Analyst Amreetha Vijayakumar credits Siemens' totally integrated automation (TIA) strategy for helping the company stand out in a worldwide market.

"Siemens TIA approach clearly puts it ahead of the competition in terms of technology from the field level up to the management level, global HMI manufacturing capabilities, business initiatives, and close customer relationships", Vijayakumar said.

"Siemens is unsurpassed in meeting customer maintenance needs by providing software update assistance, training, and global technical support".

Siemens' TIA approach provides manufacturers with the ability to completely integrate individual automation components, PLCs, and distributed I/O, seamlessly driving technology through the HMI up to the production management level.

This uniform programming, configuring, data management, and communication helps manufacturers dramatically reduce engineering costs and increase manufacturing accuracy.

"It is a great honour to be recognised by Frost and Sullivan for our global HMI leadership", said Aubert Martin, President and CEO ofSiemens Energy and Automation in the USA.

"All of our employees, in every corner of the globe, are dedicated to providing our customers with the highest levels of technology and service".

"These important awards are a tribute to their unequalled dedication to customer satisfaction".

The awards from Frost and Sullivan acknowledged technological advancements in Siemens' HMI configuration and web-based visualisation software tools, including Simatic WinCC flexible.

In addition, WinCC flexible, and the scalable multi-user Scada system WinCC, help operators to comply with regulatory norms, including CFR 21 Part 11.

"The easy-to-use, multilanguage, graphic user interfaces, combined with Siemens innovative series of control panels and panel PCs - including mobile devices - give manufacturers the competitive advantage of a HMI system that provides uniform configuration, documentation, sophisticated system and process diagnostics, and access to web based technologies", Vijayakumar said.

"As a result, Siemens reigns supreme in the global HMI marketplace".
