Vacuum pumps cope with caustic media
A new range of vacuum pumps is capable of safely handling highly concentrated chlorine gases and vapours containing hydrochloric acid or hydrocarbon solvents.
Highly concentrated chlorine gases and vapours containing hydrochloric acid or hydrocarbon solvents can be safely handled using suitable vacuum pumps available from Friatec-Rheinhutte.
The use of specially engineered ceramic material provides resistance to practically all acids with the exception of hydrofluoric acid.
This material also proves to be just as resistant to gases and vapours that contain solid particles.
Comparatively low purchase costs, high operational reliability, long service life and low life cycle costs are counted among the other advantages of the FGP Series of vacuum pumps.
All the nonmoving component parts that come into contact with the pumped or operating medium are made from a special silicate ceramic material called Frikorund.
Depending on the particular application, the impellers may also be made of this material or of glass-fibre reinforced PTFE, titanium, hastelloy or zirconium.
The liquid ring principle operates as a closed loop on the FGP Series of pumps.
This design ensures that leakage of the pumped medium and component parts, such as gases, will not occur.
The FGP Series employs a single stage valveless pump with a free-floating impeller and amply dimensioned shaft and bearings.
The only moving part is the rotor.
This provides for high reliability and long service life.
The use of ceramic Frikorund on the pump component parts that come in contact with the flowing medium is the key element that enables Friatec Rheinhutte to address very aggressive applications that are typical in the chemical industry.
In addition to offering this line of vacuum ring pumps, Friatec Rheinhutte also builds complete pumping skids to meet specific user requirements.
The skids may include several pumps, separator tanks, cooling units and associated instrumentation.
A range of pump sizes is available, offering capacities up to 600m3/h.
