Sweeney moves up to Senior VP

Foster Wheeler USA Corp has appointed Charles Sweeney as Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations, for its southwest operations in Houston, Texas.

Foster Wheeler USA Corp has appointed Charles Sweeney as Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations, for its southwest operations in Houston, Texas.

Sweeney has 23 years' experience in the industry, 13 of which have been with Foster Wheeler.

He has been involved in the execution of a variety of projects throughout Europe, the Middle East and Asia, including offshore oil and gas, refining, petrochemicals and chemicals.

Prior to this appointment, he held global responsibility for Foster Wheeler's chemicals business.

Mike Beaumont, Director, Project Operations, Foster Wheeler Energy, responsible for the Houston operations centre, said: "During his career with Foster Wheeler, Charles has successfully expanded our market position in a number of key areas, particularly in chemicals in the Middle East and Asia, most notably in China.

I am confident that in his new role, Charles' experience and skills will contribute significantly to Foster Wheeler's future development and profitability".

Sweeney gained a BSc (Hons) in chemical engineering from Leeds University and an MBA from Webster University, Leiden, Holland.

He is a Fellow of the Institution of Chemical Engineers.
