Foster Wheeler's Director of Engineering Operations, Keith Batchelor has been elected as a Fellow by the Royal Academy of Engineering.

Foster Wheeler's Director of Engineering Operations, Keith Batchelor has been elected as a Fellow by the Royal Academy of Engineering.

Batchelor, 54, who is based at Foster Wheeler's UK subsidiary in Reading, has been with the company for 34 years in various capacities.

He was named a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering in recognition of his success in these varied roles and for his contribution to the development of practical applications of process modelling for oil refinery design and economics and for the world-wide development and project management of major energy and refinery projects.

Previous roles held by Batchelor in Foster Wheeler include managing the execution of various projects in the UK, Pakistan and Indonesia and he was Divisional Director of Process Operations.

Most recently, he held the role of Executive Vice President, International Sales, for Foster Wheeler's Engineering and Construction Group.

Currently he is Director of Engineering Operations with responsibility for process design, engineering and IT for the Reading group of companies and for Foster Wheeler's operation in South Africa.

The Royal Academy of Engineering brings together over 1200 distinguished professionals from a variety of disciplines and is dedicated to pursing, encouraging and maintaining excellence in the field.

Election to the Royal Academy of Engineering is by invitation only.

60 new Fellows are elected each year from nominations made by existing Fellows.

Batchelor said: "I am delighted and honoured to be elected as a Fellow by the Royal Academy of Engineering.

The Royal Academy of Engineering recognises and promotes engineering excellence and this is an ethos, which echoes throughout Foster Wheeler and is reflected in every project we undertake".

Batchelor is a graduate of Imperial College of Science and Technology in London where he obtained a degree in chemical engineering.

In addition, he received a business masters' degree from the UK's Cranfield School of Management specialising in engineering construction project management.

He is also a member of the Council of the Institution of Chemical Engineers.
