Award recognises 10 years of safe practice
Foster Wheeler Energy has won a prestigious RoSPA President's Award in recognition of its outstanding safety record over the last decade.
Foster Wheeler Energy has won a prestigious Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) President's Award in recognition of its outstanding safety record over the last decade.
The President's Award is only presented to those companies that have attained a minimum of 10 consecutive RoSPA Gold Awards.
"We are thrilled to receive the President's Award from RoSPA", stated Fred Tomlin, Divisional Director for Construction Operations with Foster Wheeler.
"This honour reflects the exemplary standard of work being carried out by our employees on all our projects worldwide.
As ever, we remain committed to achieving excellence in the field of health and safety".
RoSPA is a leading UK organisation, dedicated to raising awareness of safety issues and reducing accidents at work and home.
Each year, more than 1000 companies from the UK and around the world receive occupational awards from RoSPA in recognition of their excellence in managing health and safety at work.
Since its first year of participation in this programme, Foster Wheeler has won 22 RoSPA awards across a number of different categories.
To adjudicate these awards, a judging panel of safety experts measures the participating companies' accident frequencies based on lost-time injuries and reportable injuries.
The panel unanimously decided that Foster Wheeler was worthy of a President's Award as it has consistently reported a low incident rate over the last 10 years.
This has been achieved as a result of rigorous health and safety programmes and management systems implemented by the company on all their global projects.
The President's Award was formally presented by the president of RoSPA, Lord Faulkner of Worcester, to Chris Haddon, Construction Manager, Foster Wheeler Energy, at an awards ceremony held at the annual RoSPA Scottish congress in Glasgow on 11th September 2003.
