Saudi plant orders two heaters

Foster Wheeler Energy has been awarded a contract to design and supply two heaters for Gulf Farabi Petrochemicals Company for its grassroots n-paraffin and linear alkyl benzene plant in Saudi Arabia.

The Fired Heater Division of Foster Wheeler Energy has been awarded a contract to design and supply two heaters for Gulf Farabi Petrochemicals Company for its grassroots n-paraffin and linear alkyl benzene (LAB) plant at Al-Jubail, Saudi Arabia.

The terms of the award were not disclosed.

The project has been included in third-quarter bookings.

"We are delighted to be awarded this contract", said Stephen Hoskins, Fired Heater Divisional Director, Foster Wheeler Energy.

"Our Glasgow operation executed the front-end design for this petrochemicals project, and is now the project management consultant for the engineering, procurement, and construction phase".

"However, Gulf Farabi has a firm policy of requiring competitive bids, and we have won this contract by offering the best price and product against strong international competition".

"The strength of our product is demonstrated in part by our track record of successful project execution, and our experience in supplying heaters to the Middle East, which is one of our most active and important global markets".

Foster Wheeler is a world leader in the design and supply of process fired heaters, including reforming furnaces, CO boilers, and waste heat recovery units, for the oil and gas, refining and petrochemical industries.

"This new plant represents Gulf Farabi's first important venture into downstream development of petrochemicals", commented Mohammad I Al-Bibi, President of Gulf Farabi Petrochemicals Company, "and will enable the company to meet growing Middle East and worldwide demand for LAB, as well as supplying n-paraffin as feedstock to other LAB producers".
