SK signs for butanediol plant
Foster Wheeler Energy has been awarded a contract to provide basic engineering design and technical services for a 40,000 tonnes per annum butanediol plant for SK Corp in South Korea.

BDO is used to produce terathane which is the key intermediate for both Lycra stretch fibres and other high-value polyurethanes.
The Foster Wheeler contract value, which was included in the company's first-quarter 2006 bookings, was not disclosed.
Foster Wheeler will undertake various elements of the process and basic engineering design for the new plant from its Teesside project execution centre in the UK.
The basic engineering design is scheduled to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2006.
"With this BDO award, we have the opportunity to build on our well-established and successful association with Invista", said Steve Davies, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Foster Wheeler Energy.
"As a preferred contractor for Invista's purified terephthalic acid (PTA) process technology, we are already working with Invista on two PTA plants in China and one in Thailand, each being built by different owners".
"Our Teesside operation worked closely with Invista on the early design phases of one of these three PTA projects, and this latest award further confirms Invista's confidence in Foster Wheeler's experience and skills".
