In-line load cell has USB output option

A Futek Advanced Sensor Technology product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Jul 10, 2009

The LCM300 in-line load cell from Futek Advanced Sensor Technology is now available with USB output, eliminating the need for an analogue amplifier, power supply and display equipment.

Measurements are said to be less affected by noise and temperature variation.

This USB integration also gives the user power to monitor the output of the sensor and includes Futek's USB Basic software, which allows users to monitor the output of the sensor in real time.

The standard LCM300 tension and compression load cell model has a robust construction available in 17-4 stainless steel, with male threads on both ends and a 10ft long 28 AWG 4 conductor shielded PVC cable.

This product offers a miniature design with a height of 1.2in and a diameter of 1in.

There are also options for external matched output or Teflon cable readily available.

For a higher capacity range, see the LCM325, LCM350, or LCM375.

In-line load cells are commonly used in biomechanical applications and the Futek LCM300 model is designed in a way that can support research and general lab applications in the fields of medicine, industrial ergonomics and sports science.

Other applications include welding, anchor testing and these types of load cells may also be used in tension and compression applications such as hydraulic systems.

Futek tension and compression in-line load cells offer high accuracy and high stiffness.

This model has nonlinearity of +/-0.5 per cent and deflection of 0.001in nominal.

The standard LCM300 tension and compression load cell can be modified or customised to meet requirements and most models are available for 24-hour shipping.

This model is manufactured in the US and uses metal foil strain gauge technology.

For a complete system solution, Futek can provide both signal conditioned displays or its VCal portable system.

Futek's VCal portable system provides on-site verification and calibration of products.

The Futek LCM Series is also available with TEDS / IEEE1451.4 option.
