Halcrow, the design, planning and management consultancy firm, has confirmed its investment in Fluent CFD software to boost its already substantial analysis capability.

Halcrow, the design, planning and management consultancy firm, has confirmed its investment in Fluent CFD (computational fluid dynamics) software to boost its already substantial analysis capability Specialising in the transport, water and property sectors, Halcrow has purchased both the core Fluent software, which has applications across a range of industries, as well as Airpak, a CFD software package, providing specialist capabilities for use in HVAC (heating, air-conditioning and ventilation) applications

Halcrow has been using CFD for some time but made the decision to invest in Fluent's software because of the advantages Fluent provides.

Dr Fathi Tarada, Halcrow's Project Director for tunnel ventilation and fire safety engineering explains: "CFD analysis is an important tool in enhancing the high level of consultancy services we offer to our international clients.

We chose Fluent because of the ease of modelling complex geometries, and because of the range of physical models incorporated into the code that can be selected for widely varying projects".
