Upgrade for remote simulation service

A Fluent product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Apr 28, 2005

Fluent has expanded the computing power available to its unique RSolve remote simulation facility and reduced the cost to users.

Fluent has expanded the computing power available to its unique RSolve remote simulation facility (RSF) to over 200MFLOPS peak, with 64Gbyte of memory and 1.6Tbyte of storage.

In addition, the entry price for using the RSF has been reduced by a factor of 3x to a range of US $3-6 per CPU hour, depending on volume of purchase.

The benefit of Fluent's RSolve service lies in its ability to provide cost effective access to the Fluent application for CFD users who have a periodic need to perform large computationally intensive simulations.

By capitalising on Fluent's in-house Linux cluster expertise, users can immediately begin performing complex flow modelling on an optimised solution, instead of facing the long and often complex hardware and software procurement issues they might otherwise encounter.

"The Fluent RSF now becomes an outstanding price/performance value option for customers wanting to do large scale CFD simulations on short notice".

"The headache and upfront cost of deploying your own cluster has been fully absorbed by Fluent", says Deena Cota, Product Manager for eBusiness Solutions at Fluent: "We are seeing the Fluent remote simulation facility continuing to gain acceptance over the last year with almost 200% growth in usage over a wide range of industry sectors", she added.

"We are really sold on the RSF cluster", said Robert Acker, President of Enthalmetrix: "Small companies like us, without the hardware to solve large problems, are stuck".

"We either use a watered down CFD code - which we have not been able to make work - or make a big investment in machines and a high-end code".

"The RSF has been a perfect solution for us".

"We get all the functionality of the Fluent code and can just upload our problem to the Fluent RSF cluster to solve".

Another unique feature of the Fluent RSolve facility is the ability to create and deploy application-specific design tools.

The recent deployment of a spray dryer modeller and hydrocyclone design tool illustrate the cost effectiveness and intuitive nature of the Fluent remote simulation facility.
