The leading producer of high pressure cleaning systems, Alfred Karcher, now optimises the flow characteristics of its devices with the computational fluid dynamics solution Fluent for Catia V5.

Karcher is based in Winnenden, Germany with a workforce in 40 countries.

Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) is used for simulation, visualisation and analysis of fluid flow, heat and mass transfer, and chemical reactions.

It is a vital part of the computer-aided engineering (CAE) process for companies around the world and is deployed in nearly every manufacturing industry.

Fluent for Catia V5, developed by Fluent as a member of the CAA V5 Software Community Programme, delivers simulation-driven product design to customers working within the Catia V5 PLM environment, enabling customers to predict performance at a very early stage of the product development process.

The result is better performing, more cost-effective products in less time.

"As a fully integrated tool within Dassault Systemes' V5 PLM environment, Fluent for Catia V5 is totally compatible with upstream and downstream PLM functions and enables flow simulation to be performed with ease as part of the product development process", says Georg Scheuerer, Managing Director of Ansys Germany.

"The product is the result of Fluent's close technical collaboration with Dassault Systemes and our customer advisors, who have helped us to ensure that the software meets their need for ease-of-use, reliable simulation results and a high level of integration".

Karcher selected Fluent's software solution with a clear strategic vision in mind: Innovative products remain the company's principal growth factor.

A continuous increase in development capacity and a high number of patents show Karcher's commitment to innovation.

By investing in Fluent for Catia V5, Karcher sees itself prepared for global competition and a continued growth in the years to come.

Dr Christian Stewen from the Central Research, Advance Development and Process Development department at Karcher points out: "The crucial factor in our decision for Fluent for Catia V5 were the advantages we get from the full integration concept pursued by Fluent and Dassault Systemes, which provides for a unified design and analysis process in the product development cycle".
