Oven lining makes 17% energy saving for Honda

A Fujikura Europe product story

Honda Cars Philippines is the latest international manufacturer to benefit from the revolutionary Fujihokka heat emissivity material.

Honda Cars Philippines is the latest international manufacturer to benefit from the revolutionary Fujihokka heat emissivity material which has been installed as an oven lining in an existing convection oven, used for curing PVC coatings.

"The installation, which was made during May 2002, has made immediate improvements in not only the oven performance but more importantly in energy efficiency and productivity as a direct result of Fujihokka oven lining", says Wiltshire-based Fujikura Europe.

The initial heat-up time of the oven has been reduced, as have the curing temperature and time.

Finished item quality has improved and average LPG energy savings of 17% have been measured.

Production capacity has been increased by 12.5%.

Fujihokka is supplied in sheet form that can be quickly installed into existing ovens, thus minimising down time.

The effects of Fujihokka lining are instantaneous and will last for the life of the oven.

Fujihokka was developed by Fujikura, and is a patented surface treatment process that is applied to aluminium alloys to boost far infrared emissivity.

Fujihokka has an average emissivity of 90% over the 1-30 micron wavelength range and is therefore extremely efficient at absorbing and radiating thermal energy.

The high emissivity below 10 microns is ideal for efficient curing of resins/paints and drying of materials containing water or solvents.

Fujihokka can be considered for any application that involves heating, cooling or drying.

The material is now specified for new and retrospective applications with a number of international manufacturers in Europe and the Far East.
