The Tremolo software program has been developed specifically to analyse single- and two-phase flow transients in nuclear power plant piping systems.

The Tremolo 3.0.1 software program has been developed specifically to analyse single- and two-phase flow transients in nuclear power plant piping systems Tremolo is developed and maintained under FAI's 10CFR50 Appendix B quality assurance programme with verification and validation (V and V) performed using more than 70 tests and benchmarks

Now engineers can quickly and reliably model their own piping systems and resolve many common piping design problems and safety analysis issues.

For example, Tremolo has been used to analyse valve closing margin, the cause and effects of pressure surge due to valve closure and steam condensation, and the potential for boiling in heat exchangers and flashing across control valves.

Key features of the new software program include a MS Windows interface that allows users to follow piping isometrics and point and click to rapidly and accurately build pipeline models.

Cut and paste components, including a database of standard tube and pipe sizes up to 42in, are also included to quickly expand or correct model design.

Error checking of the pipeline model is automatically performed and completed within seconds every time a run is made.

The user simply points and clicks to immediately find and correct faulty components.

"After 10 years of in-house use and development, I am pleased to finally release the latest version of Tremolo that I believe is truly the fastest way to perform valve and pipeline transient analysis", said Tom Elicson, Senior Nuclear Engineer and Tremolo Code Leader at FAI.

"Pipeline designers can now move down the schematic pipeline model onscreen, selecting components to instantly obtain thumbnail plots, which they can then import to Microsoft Office.

Report writing, if needed, is completed within minutes with the click of a mouse, using min/max filters, maximum value plots, axial profile plots, instant calculation notes and reference tracking".
