In ongoing development of its production facilities focused on maintaining its market leading position, Flux Pumps has pursued a new programme of automation at its Maulbronn factory.

Flux's managing director in the UK, Brian Wigley explains: "Innovation is a key concept at Flux Pumps, and many of our products are frontrunners in terms of their technology and market positioning.

So it's not surprising that we continuously invest in innovative production technology in order to control our costs".

Three areas of production have recently come in for upgrade.

In the paintshop, state-of-the art robots have been installed for finishing components.

The new technology speeds throughput, ensures an even coating of the correct thickness to reduce rework, reduces paint wastage, and provides quick-change introduction of different colours and formulations to maximise uptime.

A spinoff of these improvements is enhanced environmental performance.

Flux has also installed a laser etching machine at the end of line which is programmed to engrave part number/description and any relevant certification details on parts.

Fully automating the labelling function to deliver significant cost savings, the laser machine will handle the wide variety of materials used by Flux in its products.

Helping to bring to logistics the efficiency gains on the shopfloor, Flux has also implemented a fully-automated raw materials stock control system, supporting its fast-response product and spares delivery guarantee.

"Our intention is not to implement these improvements for their own sake but, as economies work through the system, to pass onto our customers significant price benefits.

We see it as part of our commitment to our customers not only to assure them of the consistently high quality which they expect, but also to deliver the best price/performance on the market", Brian Wigley concludes.

Flux targets food, pharmaceuticals and chemical industries with liquids handling solutions built around wide ranges pumps and motors, liquid meters/batch controllers and process control systems, all backed by comprehensive application and service support.
