Galil introduces RIO-47200 Pocket PLC

A Galil Motion Control product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Mar 20, 2009

Galil Motion Control, the developer of the RIO Pocket PLC series for input/output (I/O) handling, is offering the RIO-47200 Pocket PLC.

The RIO-47200 provides DIN rail mounting and screw terminals.

It uses a different packaging style and connectors to the company's RIO-47100, which has D-type connectors.

Lisa Wade, vice-president of sales and marketing, said: 'The RIO-47200 is ideal for customers who are prototyping or want to connect discrete wires to the RIO via screw terminals.' Each RIO unit contains eight analogue inputs, 16 optically isolated inputs and 16 optically isolated outputs.

Multiple RIO units can be networked together for unlimited I/O expansion.

The RIO features a 32-bit processor and non-volatile memory for storing programs.

Features include arithmetic and logical processing, data logging, process-control loops, counters and timers.

The RIO is said to allow communication via both ethernet and RS232.

It also supports Modbus TCP/IP as master and slave, a web interface and the ability to send email alerts.

It can interface with HMIs, PLCs, motion controllers and other I/O devices.

The RIO is programmed with Galil's two-letter commands or Ladder Interface Software.

The RIO-47200 controller measures 7.19in x 3.52in (18.26cm x 8.94cm) and includes a DIN rail mounting tray and metal cover.

It provides screw terminals for interfacing with external devices with discrete wires.

The RIO receives power from power-over-ethernet (PoE) or from an external supply of 18VDC to 36VDC.

Light-emitting diode indicators provide a display of all digital I/O.

Available for immediate delivery, the RIO-47200 costs USD345 (GBP246) for a single quantity and USD245 for quantities of 100.
