GAMBICA and BLWA have agreed to establish a single group, to be known as the BLWA Laboratory Group, to represent the laboratory supply and analytical instrumentation sector

GAMBICA and BLWA have agreed to establish a single group to represent the laboratory supply and analytical instrumentation sector.

The new Group, to be known as the BLWA Laboratory Group, is formed by merging BLWA, the Association of the Laboratory Supply Industry, with the GAMBICA Laboratory Equipment Group.

It will represent one of five industry sectors covered by GAMBICA, the Association for Instrumentation, Control and Automation.

Announcing the new organisation, Jim Plenderleith, President of GAMBICA said the new structure would provide the laboratory sector in the UK with greater opportunity for recognition and influence and strengthen the services available to the combined membership.

Welcoming the new trade grouping, Brian Stammers, previously the BLWA President, said the amalgamation would establish a strong voice for all parts of the laboratory sector and strengthen overseas trade and development work on behalf of all GAMBICA members.

Under the new arrangement, Geoff Young continues as Chief Executive of GAMBICA and Colin Andrews, previously Secretary General of BLWA, becomes a Deputy Director of GAMBICA with responsibility for the new laboratory group and GAMBICA's overseas trade promotion activities.
