The BLWA Laboratory Group of GAMBICA has secured substantial funding under the DTI's "UK online for business" programme.
The BLWA Laboratory Group of GAMBICA has secured substantial funding, under the DTI's "UK online for business" programme, to assist companies involved in all aspects of laboratory supplies, analytical instruments, clinical diagnostics and laboratory bioresearch products.
The funding will enable the BLWA Laboratory Group to run a scheme to increase the sector's awareness of e-business and particularly e-procurement issues.
The scheme, which is one of only three nationwide, will run in three stages.
The first stage is a series of seminars, after which delegates will have an enhanced understanding of e-procurement issues and be able to formulate their own strategies to deal with them.
Phase two will assist a limited number of suppliers in analysing the e-procurement plans of their customers (and prospective customers) to determine how best to maintain their relationships.
The top-line results of the analysis will be made available to the sector as a whole.
The final phase will enable the group of suppliers identified in phase two to begin to trade electronically with a number of customers.
This experience, along with analysis will be presented at seminars that will conclude the programme.
Throughout the programme there will be an emphasis on the use of e-business tools and on developing the awareness of the sector, and the programme participants, by assisting them to carry out research and implement strategies to actually establish e-procurement with their key customers.
