At last: accurate measurement of belt tension
Gates engineers have developed a completely new sonic tension meter for synchronous belts, and it's now available.
It is an important new alternative to roller chains, requiring no retensioning or lubrication.
Because of innovative product design and advanced technical know-how, Gates is capable of delivering the solution to the industry's demanding power drive requirements.
Compared with classical belt drive systems, Poly Chain GT2 allows the design of up to 75% more compact drives, to transmit up to 8 times more power and to save up to 60% more weight.
Poly Chain GT2 belts can be used on existing Poly Chain GT drives and they operate on the same pulleys and do not require any adaptation of the system.
The Poly Chain GT2 belt construction is based on innovative state-of-the-art design.
The body and teeth of the belt are made of a new and unique polyurethane compound, specially blended for adhesion to the cords and fabric, making the belt tough and virtually immune to abrasion and chemical attack.
Aramid tensile cords are the belt's muscles and provide it with unparalleled power-carrying capacity.
The aramid fibre exhibits exceptional flex fatigue life and absorbs shocks and surge loading.
The fabric covering the teeth is highly resistant to oil, chemicals, pollutants, corrosion and abrasion.
It is exceptionally durable and remains fully operational under extreme temperatures from -54C up to +85C.
The fabric facing reduces friction with the sprocket, thereby minimising temperature build-up.
The standard Poly Chain GT2 programme includes complete drive systems - belts and sprockets.
