New from Global Display Solutions (GDS) is the Morpheus range of LCD industrial monitors.

The Morpheus range includes a wide selection of sunlight readable and standard monitors that incorporate thermal management systems, allowing the LCD to be used in direct sunlight without damage to the LCD panel.

The Morpheus series of industrial LCD monitors provide front-end options for all applications including ATMs, kiosks and PIDs (public information displays).

They are available in three different sizes, with a fourth (15in) to follow Q4 2002: 8.4in (21 cm) diagonal with specifications including 800 x 600 resolution, 1200cd/m2 brightness and SVGA standard input signal; 10.4in (26 cm) diagonal with specifications including 640 x 480 resolution, 1700cd/m2 brightness and VGA standard input signal; and 12.1in (30 cm) diagonal with specifications of 800 x 600 resolution, 1700cd/m2 brightness and SVGA standard input signal.

The 500:1 manual or automatic dimming range in the Morpheus enables the monitor brightness to be adjusted in accordance with the external brightness.

This allows the display to be optimised for all viewing conditions and has the added benefit of extending the already long lamp life (50,000 hour) still further.

LVDS and DVI digital interface options, as well as autoscaling analogue and Pal/NTSC solutions, can be provided to meet all input demands.
