Repair service really is a quick fix

A Gearbox Direct product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Jul 20, 2004

A new running repair service acknowledges the fact that sometimes a company needs its plant up and running as fast as possible.

Not available from large, high cost maintenance service operations, Gearbox Direct's new running repair service acknowledges the fact that sometimes a company needs its plant up and running as fast as possible and there is no time to wait for a complete overhaul.

Gearbox Direct is run by engineers with long-standing experience of working with industrial power transmission equipment, and the company has matched the running repairs service matched to meet demand.

Customers need not waste money on equipment that is past its best, but has to keep running.

Andy Batey, MD of Gearbox Direct comments: "We offer a complete overhaul and precision rebuild service, but in the case of running repairs, the attitude is: don't completely strip it, don't paint it 'just fix it'".

"We understand this situation having been in it ourselves over the years".

"We cost on a job per job basis and won't charge for what doesn't need doing allowing the customer to keep the plant running without breaking the maintenance budget".

The speed of repair is guaranteed by the large number of gear components Gearbox Direct keeps in stock.

The comprehensive range of "off-the-shelf" gearsets includes ratios from 5:1 to 70:1 and centres from 5 to 14in.

Special worms and wheels can also be manufactured to customer specifications.

For maximum efficiency and reliability, all of the gearshafts are made from case-hardened alloy steel with ground involute-helicoids profiles.

The worm wheels are manufactured from centrifugally cast phosphor bronze.

Gearbox Direct will also manufacture made to order gearboxes and gearsets for nonstandard applications.
