DataViews designs and manufactures software that allows users of factory automation equipment to customise the way they view and access information.
These open, high-performance graphical interface software development tools are available for Windows, UNIX, Linux- and Web-based environments.
The acquisition will further expand GE Fanuc's extensive line of industrial automation software with new tools allowing users to create their own custom operator interface packages.
"DataViews has taken an open, scaleable approach to the development of reusable, dynamic data visualisation components," said John Pritchard, vice president of GE Fanuc's PLC Business Europe.
"The company complements GE Fanuc's 'open solutions' approach to industrial automation.
The technology is an excellent fit with our existing products and services." "DataViews is delighted to join the GE Fanuc team," commented Andrew Copeland, president of DataViews.
"Clearly, GE Fanuc is committed to open automation solutions, just as we are.
This provides an unprecedented opportunity for DataViews to expand its position as pre-eminent provider of real-time data visualisation development tools in the industrial marketplace.
The benefits to DataViews' customers will be significant, including a much broader product range, complete system solutions, and global customer support." DataViews has approximately 30,000 customer installations worldwide.
The company has achieved technical leadership in part by adopting an open-systems approach and placing a premium on application performance, according to Copeland.
Applications built with DataViews products can be deployed as stand-alone, client-server or Web-based applications.
DataViews-powered interfaces are used to graphically monitor and control satellites, space stations, communications gateways, power plants, factories and simulation systems.
