I/O systems partnership with Phoenix Contact
GE Fanuc Automation, the joint venture undertaking of General Electric USA and FANUC Ltd Japan, and Phoenix Contact Germany, have formed a partnership in the field of I/O systems.
GE Fanuc Automation, a joint venture undertaking of General Electric USA and FANUC Ltd Japan, and Phoenix Contact Germany, have formed a partnership in the field of I/O systems.
This includes the worldwide marketing of I/O systems based on the open Installation System Inline for GE Fanuc controls, as well as mutual activities for the expansion and further development of this system.
The contracts were signed in October 2000 in the GE Fanuc Headquarters in Charlottesville, USA.
The system partnership will come into force at the start of 2001.
GE Fanuc Automation sees the Inline installation system as a significant strategic extension of its VersaMaxâ product range of flexible I/O solutions.
With this modular automation module, new application possibilities will be opened up.
The simplification of installation, as well as the function-oriented structure of the modules in the control cabinet, were prime factors in GE Fanuc Automation's choice of Inline.
Other key parameters were the many years of experience and the competence of Phoenix Contact in electro-mechanical connection and industrial communication technology.
"With the bundling of the marketing activities and the development strengths of both partners, we shall expand the market penetration with an I/O system which possesses an ideal combination of flexibility, modularity and economy, " said John Pritchard, GE Fanuc's Senior Vice President, Automation Equipment Sales.
Roland Bent, Manager Marketing and Development of Phoenix Contact, continued, "We see in this partnership the basis of a successful cooperation.
We are convinced that this, together with future developments, will find applications in many new industrial fields.".
