GE Fanuc Automation has introduced the new VersaMax CPUE05, with embedded Ethernet.

This new low end, high performance programmable logic controller CPU expands the VersaMax family's features with the addition of built-in Ethernet capability, faster instruction execution times, and more user memory.

"GE Fanuc has taken a leadership role in developing Ethernet-enabled automation solutions that help companies realize the cost savings associated with implementing, maintaining and training personnel on one network, rather than on several," said John Pritchard, Senior Vice President and General Manager PLC at GE Fanuc.

"Additionally, the promise of greater access to operations information - from the management level down to individual I/O points - compounds the importance of built-in Ethernet connectivity." The new VersaMax CPUE05 Ethernet capabilities include a 10 BaseT Ethernet connection for faster data transfers; full-duplex communication, which eliminates collisions by using switches to simultaneously transmit and receive data; and EGD (Ethernet Global Data) and SRT (Service Request Transfer) protocols.

The CPU's hardware features include 64K of user-configurable memory -- a helpful option for users who don't need large programs but do need large register space for data collection; a Run/Stop switch; and RS-232 and RS-485 ports, which allow extra serial connection points for programmers, local operator interfaces, and human-machine interfaces..

The VersaMax CPUE05 is fully compatible with all VersaMax modular products as well as with the new Windows-based VersaProT 2.0 programming software.

The VersaMax CPUE05 has a powerful instruction set that includes Floating Point Math, Serial Read/Write, Subroutines, PID and much more.

In addition there are over 50 different types of I/O and specialty modules available.

Remote I/O network options include Genius, Ethernet, DeviceNetT, and Profibus.
