Speedy CPU boosts PLC performance
GE Fanuc Automation has launched the new CPU374 for the Series 90-30 PLC, offering significant speed and performance improvements for high demand applications.
GE Fanuc Automation has launched the new CPU374 for the Series 90-30 PLC, offering significant speed and performance improvements for high demand applications.
Available in May, the new CPU374 features an AMDSC520 processor, running at 133MHz.
In pilot projects, this faster CPU offered four to five times performance improvements over previous generation CPUs, and in certain applications performed significantly better.
In addition to high speed processing, the GE Fanuc Series 90-30 CPU374 features a built-in Ethernet switch with two 10/100Mbit ports (RJ-45).
The two CPU374 Ethernet ports share a single IP address but are auto-sensing for data rate, duplicity, and cable crossover.
Furthermore, the new CPU is ideal for bridging a 100Mbps network, like an enterprise monitoring system or controller communication LAN, to a 10Mbit/s device.
This may be a local in-cabinet device such as the new generation QuickPanel with built-in Ethernet.
The built-in Ethernet switch of the CPU374 eliminates the need for a separate switching device while allowing Ethernet to act as the single, uniform connection to the distinct devices that make up the overall control system.
The CPU374 supports both SRTP and Ethernet Global Data (EGD) protocols.
The CPU374 supports the Easy Program Store device that enables users to perform program and configuration field upgrades without a computer.
The Easy Program Store is designed to make it easy for OEMs to upgrade their customers without costly travel.
The CPU374 has a Boolean execution rate of 0.15ms/K, has 240Kbyte of configurable memory, and is programmed in RLD, IL, C or Structure Text.
This powerful controller supports up to 4096 local and remote I/Os.
Remote I/O options include Ethernet I/O, Genius, Profibus and DeviceNet.
