GE Fanuc has introduced one new model plus new expansion units in its compact high-performance VersaMax Nano and VersaMax Micro PLC Series which extend the I/O capabilities of the product range.

The ultra-compact Nano Series now includes a new version with analogue input, while the I/O capability of the Micro Series can be expanded with either new analogue I/O modules, or new 28 point I/O modules.

These additions make the VersaMax Nano and Micro PLC product line one of the most flexible on the market.

The new GE Fanuc palm-sized VersaMax Nano offers a 0-10V DC analogue input with 8bit resolution, six digital inputs and four relay outputs.

There is a choice of 12 or 24V DC power supply.

The addition of the analogue input extends the range of applications to those that require temperature, pressure or position measurement.

The new PLC is unchanged in size from other Nano variants and is ideal for high-volume applications where cost, space, and speed are all of importance.

The VersaMax Nano supports PID, floating point maths and subroutines.

The VersaMax Micro is available as a standard package with 14, 23 or 28 I/O providing simple links to the new I/O expansion units.

The Micro analogue expansion unit offers an extra four additional analogue input and two analogue output channels with a choice of 12V DC, 24V DC or 230V AC power supplies.

One VersaMax Micro can be expanded with up to four expansion units.

The Micro 28-point expansion units enable the PLC to increase its supported I/O from 84 I/O to 140 I/O.

These are also available with 12V DC, 24V DC or 230V AC power supplies.

In all there are eight new models handling up to 16 digital inputs, and up to 12 relay or transistor outputs.

Compared with using two of the earlier 14 I/O expansion units, one new 28-point expansion unit takes up 20% less panel space.

All VersaMax Nano and Micro PLCs and expansion units can be simply clipped on a DIN-rail or bolt mounted on a panel.

They can be programmed with GE Fanuc's VersaPro or Cimplicity Machine Edition Logic Developer.

The VersaMax Nano and VersaMax Micro PLCs are equipped with a Hitachi HS2 32bit RISC processor and 2Kbyte memory for the Nano and generous 8Kbyte memory for the Micro.

The variety of low-cost configurations and networking capability make them ideal for decentralised control applications.

A modem capability enables control, data collection and troubleshooting to be carried out from a remote location.
